Love at first sight!

So, you remember my last blog post on “Love at first sight?”?  Yeah, I barely remember it myself.  It’s been quite the month!  We launched our first Heartwork conference 2 weeks ago at Abundant Life, and it was INCREDIBLE.  A thick presence of God rested on us from the very first words that we lifted up to Him: “Chains be broken/lives be healed/eyes be opened/Christ is revealed”.  The best way I can describe it is that it felt like a current of electricity surging through the sanctuary and coursing through each of our bodies- a current of the Holy Spirit!  From that moment on, God worked miracles and spoke to each of us in completely supernatural, life-transforming ways.  I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Jesus for meeting with us in such a personal and intimate way.  I kept thinking all weekend, ‘This is what happens when women who love Jesus get together for one, sole purpose.”  We were all there for the same reason- to gain healing in our hearts!  To be empowered by Jesus Christ! For our brokenness to be made whole!  No one came just to “check it out”, or to have some girl time.  We were there for a sole purpose…and it was serious business.  The enemy definitely lost his foothold in many lives, and the lies that he feeds to us as women were exposed and destroyed by the Truth of God’s Word.  It was miraculous.  Thank You, Jesus!

So I spent last month preparing and organizing the conference, and these two weeks recuperating and re-grouping! I can’t wait for what God has in store next for me,  for this community, and for every woman of Heartwork.

At the end of my last post, I promised a follow-up on “Love at first sight”.  Here it is!

The Lord said to me,

Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I chose you.
Before you were born I set you apart.
I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:4-5, NET

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Jeremiah 31:3, KJV

We girls know that there is really no such thing as love at first sight.  Infatuation?  Yes.  Crushing?  Yes, yes, yes!  But not love.  But.

But God.  God is the One who loved you from the first moment that He designed you in His mind.  Before you were even conceived in the womb, He was head over heels for you!  In love with who you would be in Him, and the beauty of your face and your smile.  In love with your worship lifted up to Him.

He longs for you in a  romantic, intimate way.  He longs for you to seek Him, to desire Him, to chase after Him.  Just like you, He wants to be pursued.  He wants to be loved and desired by YOU!

Can you believe that?  Really believe it, so much that it changes your life focus?  Because if we could grasp the kind of love that Jesus Christ holds in His heart for each and every one of us, it would do just that.  It would consume us. We would weep in His presence, overwhelmed by His love.  We would stop chasing after love and fashion and entertainment and food, and start chasing after the Lover of our soul.

Get this!!!  Grab onto it!  His love will radically transform you!  You will be able to forgive yourself! You will be set free from you past and even your present!  Grab ahold of this love!

Listen to King David’s response to this knowledge:

O God, you are my God! I long for you!
My soul thirsts for you,
my flesh yearns for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Yes, in the sanctuary I have seen you,
and witnessed your power and splendor.
Because experiencing your loyal love is better than life itself,
my lips will praise you.
For this reason I will praise you while I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
As if with choice meat you satisfy my soul.
My mouth joyfully praises you,
whenever I remember you on my bed,
and think about you during the nighttime hours.
For you are my deliverer;
under your wings I rejoice.
My soul pursues you;
your right hand upholds me.

Psalm 63:1-8, NET

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Psalm 57:7, KJV

God was David’s everything.  His day began and ended with his King.  In fact, in Psalm 56:17, it would seem that he prayed 3 times a day! Maybe he bumped up his prayer in times of trouble- but which of us could honestly say that we pray 3 times a day when the going gets tough?  The point is that David had no doubt of God’s love and acceptance of him.  Living in a time before the infilling of the Spirit, David lived with a heart full of God.  In love with God- because he was convinced that God was in love with him!

What would happen in our lives if we truly believed that Jesus loved us from the beginning…and that we haven’t ruined His love by our selfishness, our sin, or our weaknesses?

How would that change our lives?

How would that change you?  How WILL it?  Be hopeful!  Be expectant in this!

Allow yourself to fall in love with Jesus today, knowing that Jesus loves you with a love that is unfathomable and endless.  Hillsong United put out a song last year called “Relentless”.  I’ll leave you with these lyrics.  Let this be your freedom song today!!

Salvation sounds a new beginning
As distant hearts begin believing
Redemption’s bid is unrelenting
Your love goes on
Your love goes on

You carry us
Carry us
When the world gives way
You cover us
Cover us
With Your endless grace

Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless

The time is up for chasing shadows
You gave the world a light to follow
A hope that shines beyond tomorrow
Your love goes on
Your love goes on

You carry us
Carry us
When the world gives way
You cover us
Cover us
With Your endless grace

Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless

Tearing through the veil of darkness
Breaking every chain, You set us free
Fighting for the furthest heart You gave
Your own life for all to see

Tearing through the veil of darkness
Breaking every chain, You set us free
Fighting for the furthest heart You gave
Your life

(You carry us, carry us
You cover us, cover us)
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
Your love is relentless
